The Lovecast with Dave O Rama - CIUT FM - The Vaults Version Part 1
For this episode of The Lovecast I decided to go back in time and explore some past Lovecasts archived in the vaults.
The Lovecast has been on the air for over 18 years, and in that time I have had the pleasure of interviewing many talented musicians from across the country. So, this week I feature interviews and in studio performances by a handful of the many guests who have joined me on The Lovecast in past years.
Included on this episode is an in studio live multitrack on the fly mix of original music by award winning multi-instrumentalist and reggae producer, Dubmatix. This session was recorded in 2010 when I was invited to join Ken Stowar as guest co-host of his long running Global Rhythms program. Ken and I had decided to focus the show on that week on dub reggae and so as an extra treat I invited Dubmatix aboard to drop this set.
The show also features an interview with Veronica Maguire who is a flamenco dancer, teacher, and choreographer with dance troupe Alma De Espana. Her son Gareth Owen also performs two in studio live flamenco guitar improvisations during the interview, which took place in 2016.
Vancouver based award winning African musician Alpha Yaya Diallo also makes an appearance and plays live and solo during the interview segment recorded back in 2015.
There is also a 30 minute live in studio performance set from blues duo Blue Moon Marquee recorded back in 2016.
Then a segment from an interview I did in late 2009 with Smithers based award winning Cuban musician Alex Cuba, where he also performs live in studio during the interview.
The show concludes with a short segment from an interview with Saskatoon based folk singer Steph Cameron, who also performs live during the interview, which was recorded in 2018.

In addition to Dave O Rama's weekly all you can eat buffet of global schizphonics, on this episode Dave also reconnects with longtime Lovecast friend, musician and producer Adham Shaikh. Dave connects with Adham over the phone at his Sonic Turtle Studio in the Slocan Valley of British Columbia, Canada.
Dave speaks with Adham about his involvement with a new musical project called Monkey Dragon. The band features Buckman Coe, Harvey Paris, Andy Cakes, Marty Carter, and Adham Shaikh. Monkey Dragon's debut album was released in January 2021 and is called Enter The Multiverse.
